Album terbaru yang rilis minggu ini meliputi: Bladee, Darkthrone, Maruja, Dolmen Gate, Exhumation, The Goalie’s Anxiety at the Penalty Kick, ACxDC, dan masih banyak lagi.

Bladee – Cold Visions

Secara mengejutkan ikon rap Internet asal Swedia, Bladee melepas mixtape solo terbaru bertajuk “Cold Visions”. Padahal genap sebulan yang lalu Bladee turut melepas album kolaboratif bersama Yung Lean berjudul “Psykos” yang juga dirilis secara mengejutkan. Namun berbeda dengan proyek kolaboratifnya itu, kini Bladee telah menyiapkan sebanyak 30 lagu dengan total durasi mencapai 1 jam lebih. Yung Lean kembali terlibat untuk mengisi beberapa lagu, namun selain dirinya, ada beberapa nama kolaborator lain yang turut dihadirkan seperti: Yung Sherman, Thaiboy Digital, Black Kray, hingga Skrillex. Jika pada “Psykos” Bladee maupun Yung Lean beralih pada proyek musik yang lebih bersifat kontemplatif dengan disisipi banyaknya bagian melodi dan kepingan instrumental dari aroman post-punk maupun indie-rock, kali ini “Cold Visions” mengembalikan bentuk asli Bladee sebagaimana ia dikenal sebagai rapper.

Darkthrone – It Beckons Us All…….

Duo legendaris black metal asal Norwegia, Darkthrone merilis album terbaru berjudul “It Beckons Us All….”. Ini menjadi album ke-21 yang dirilis Darkthrone sepanjang karirnya, yang dilepas melalui label Peaceville Records. Darkthrone kembali bereuni dengan Jack Control yang menangani sesi mastering album, dimana Jack telah bekerjasama dengan Darkthrone sejak album “Underground Resistance” dilepas 2013 lalu. Selain Jack, Darkthrone juga kembali menggaet seniman Zbigniew Bielak untuk melukis sampul utama album. Total terdapat 7 lagu baru yang terdaftar dalam album Darkthrone kali ini.

Maruja – Connla’s Well

Ep “Connla’s Well” yang baru saja dilepas Maruja menjadi perpanjangan tangan kesuksesan bagi kolektif post-punk / jazz-punk kelahiran Manchester ini. Pasalnya, ep bertajuk “Knocknarea” yang dirilis setahun lalu, mendatangkan begitu banyak respon positif dari kalangan kritik musik maupun penikmat musik. Maruja dikenal memiliki desain suara yang urakan, bebas, dan terasa keras, akan tetapi mereka sanggup merangkai penulisan lirik yang mendalam. Bahkan pada ep ini dikhususkan bagi mereka untuk mempertajam penulisan mengenai persoalan kesehatan mental yang tengah menjadi epidemi. Misalnya pada salah satu lagunya yang berjudul “Zeitgeist”, mereka mengungkapkan: “Energinya mengingatkan pada aksi seperti Rage Against The Machine dan Prodigy. Ini adalah trek tempat kami yang membuka set live kami dan kami semua tampil penuh selama tiga menit. Ini adalah lagu kami yang paling tidak dipenuhi rasa sesal hingga saat ini, yang mengejutkan setiap pendengar hingga memberikan perhatian penuh.”

Dolmen Gate – Gateways of Eternity

Kelompok pendatang epic heavy metal asal Portugal, Dolmen Gate merampungkan album debutnya bertajuk “Gateways of Eternity” yang dilepas melalui No Remorse Records. Paulo Vieira yang namanya cukup sentral dalam skena heavy metal Portugal terlibat langsung untuk sebagai produser sekaligus orang yang mengerjakan bagian recording, mixing, hingga tahapan mastering. Selain itu, mereka menggaet seniman Marcio Blasphemator untuk melukis artwork utama pada album. Ditengah gempuran musik metal yang berlomba-lomba untuk semakin eksperimental dan progresif, Dolmen Gate datang menghadirkan konsep yang bermuara pada elemen klasik heavy metal era 80’an. Album ini sendiri sudah mulai direkam dan dibuat sejak Mei 2023, di Imperial Studio.

Exhumation – Master’s Personae

Duo black/death metal asal Yogyakarta, Exhumation melepas album studio ke-4 mereka bertajuk “Master’s Personae” melalui Pulverised Records. Album ini berjarak 4 tahun dengan pendahulunya, “Eleventh Formulae” yang digadang-gadang sebagai bentuk penyempurnaan musikalitas Exhumation selama ini. Mereka mengundang teknisi audio kawakan Jack Control untuk menangani sesi mastering. Selain itu dia juga bekerja sama dengan Bable Sagala yang diberi mandat untuk membereskan proses mixing. Penggarapan daripada sampul album dan visual album yang terasa otentik tampaknya menjadi perhatian khusus bagi Exhumation. Mereka menggaet artoworker utama, Jose Gabriel Alegría Sabogal, artworker tambahan, Daniel Valeriani, serta seorang photography, Chongripper. Mengenai albumnya pihak band ber-statement: “Dengan lolongan sedih seekor binatang buas yang berkelok-kelok, seluruh rekaman ini menghembuskan permusuhan antara kenyamanan atmosfer dan pembantaian Death Metal yang dipicu oleh kobaran api yang tak ada habisnya; “Master’s Personae” terselubung dalam perturbation musikal yang luhur, namun kedalaman megalitik yang dimiliki Exhumation tidak diragukan lagi merupakan tatapan abadi ke dalam perwujudan semangat kotor tertinggi dari Metal of Death.”

The Goalie’s Anxiety at the Penalty Kick – The Iliad and the Odyssey and the Goalie’s Anxiety at the Penalty Kick

Kolektif slowcore The Goalie’s Anxiety at the Penalty Kick (disingkat: TGAATPK) melepas album ke-2 mereka bertajuk “The Iliad and the Odyssey and the Goalie’s Anxiety at the Penalty Kick” melalui label Count Your Lucky Stars. Album ini berjarak 4 tahun dengan debut mereka “Ways of Hearing” yang dilepas selama masa pandemi melanda. Album ini sendiri direkam di Headroom Studio, Philadelphia dan di The Union for Contemporary Art, Omaha. Mark Watter, Scoops Dardaris, dan Jasper Boogaard bertanggung jawab menjadi teknisi audio untuk album ini. Seniman Tyrone Quigley didapuk untuk menyelesaikan gambar sampul album utama. Dalam album terbarunya ini, TGAATPK sudah menyiapkan 10 lagu baru, dan 4 diantaranya telah dirilis lebih dulu sebagai cuplikan single daripada album mereka kali ini.

ACxDC – G.O.A.T.

Kelompok powerviolence ACxDC melepas album studio ke-3 nya bertajuk “G.O.A.T” yang dilepas melalui label Prosthetic. Album terbaru ini membutuhkan 4 tahun penantian lamanya, setelah terakhir kali mereka melepas album bertajuk “Satan Is King” pada tahun 2020 lalu. Total terdapat 17 lagu yang terdaftar dan ada beberapa musisi lainnya yang terlibat berkontribusi dan berkolaborasi ke dalam proyek terbaru ACxDC kali ini seperti: Elliot Morrow, Henry Everett Sinclair, Roger Rivadeneira, Galaxy Eater, dan Alexander Jones. Selain agenda perilisan album baru, rencananya tahun ini ACxDC akan kembali menggelar tur yang dimulai pada tanggal 16 Juni mendatang di Studio 246, Nagayo, Jepang. Lalu september mendatang mereka dijadwalkan manggung pada tanggal 12 di venue New Cross Inn, London, U.K. dan dilanjutkan pada tanggal 14 September di venue New Cross House, London, U.K. Bahkan tidak menutup kemungkinan bahwa ACxDC juga akan menambah agenda tur mereka pada tahun ini.
