Charli XCX – Brat

Penyanyi sekaligus penulis lagu asal Inggris, Charli XCX melepas album studio ke-6 bertajuk “Brat” melalui label Atlantic. “Brat” merupakan tindak lanjut daripada album “CRASH” yang dirilis pada tahun 2022 lalu. Sebelumnya, Charli XCX telah melepas 2 single yang berjudul “”Von Dutch” pada Februari lalu dan disusul dengan “360” yang dilepas pada April. Keduanya terdaftar bersama 13 lagu lainnya, menjadikan “Brat” memiliki total sebanyak 15 lagu dengan durasi seluruhnya mencapai 41 menit. Pada proses pembuatan album “Brat”, Charli XCX turut melibatkan banyak produser, diantaranya: Easyfun, A. G. Cook, Cirkut, Hudson Mohawke, Gesaffelstein, George Daniel, dan Omer Fedi. Charli XCX menuliskan tentang pendapat terhadap karya terbaru miliknya: “Ini merupakan sebuah album klub. Pada dasarnya aku dilahirkan untuk membuat musik tarian. Latar belakang musikku berasal dari klub.. xcx6 adalah album yang selalu ingin aku buat.”

Fractal Generator – Convergence

Trio experimental death metal asal Quebec, Fractal Generator melepas album ke-3 bertajuk “Convergence” melalui label Everlasting Spew Records. Ini merupakan tindak lanjut dari album “Macrocosmos” yang mereka lepas pada 2021 lalu. Stefano Morabito yang juga sempat terlibat dalam pembuatan album Macrocosmos kembali berkontribusi untuk merampungkan sesi mixing dan mastering album. Namun mereka membuat edisi mastering khusus untuk rilisan vinyl yang digarap oleh Carlo Altobelli. Selain bereuni dengan Stefano, Fractal Generator juga kembali berkolaborasi dengan seniman Mark Erskine yang menggarap gambar sampul utama album. Mengenai album terbarunya, pihak band mengatakan: “Dugaan kesalahan dalam simulasi universal menyebabkan munculnya planet baru di tata surya kita. ‘Convergence’ adalah album yang berupaya menangkap esensi pergolakan kosmik ini, menjelajahi planet-planet baru ini ke dalam perjalanan kekacauan, lagu demi lagu.” Fractal Generator sendiri telah berdiri sejak 2007 dengan tujuan untuk menciptakan death metal atmosferik yang kelam dan belum pernah terdengar sebelumnya. Mereka mengusung tema lirik yang terinspirasi oleh ide-ide sains dan fiksi ilmiah dan sejauh ini telah terejawantahkan seutuhnya pada 3 album penuh mereka.

Night Tapes – Assisted Memories

Trio dream-pop / neo-psych asal London, Night Tapes baru saja melepas ep ke-4 mereka bertajuk “Assisted Memories”. Album ini sendiri teratas dari 7 lagu baru yang mereka tulis. Sejak mereka berdiri pada tahun 2019, formasi yang terdiri dari Max Doohan, Sam Richards, dan Liris Vesik ini tidak sedikitpun mengalami pergantian. Bersamaan dengan perilisan album, mereka akan mulai menyelenggarakan tur US pada November mendatang. Pertunjukkan musiknya akan mulai digelar pada 9 November di Brooklyn dan ditutup pada tanggal 15 November di Los Angeles.

Inconcessus Lux Lucis – Temples Colliding in Fire

Duo black metal asal Manchester ini baru saja melepas album ke-3 bertajuk “Temples Colliding in Fire” melalui I, Voidhanger Records. Kehadiran catatan ke-3 mereka ini cukup dinanti oleh pecinta musik black metal bawah tanah. Pasalnya, “The Crowning Quietus” album yang mereka lepas 7 tahun silam, cukup mendapat respon positif dan tidak mengherankan menjadi salah satu album black metal tahunan terbaik pada saat itu. Selain Alexander James (Bass, Gitar, Vokal, Lirik) dan William Jackson (Guitars, Drums, Vokal, Lirik) yang terlibat sebagai anggota tetap, Guillaume Martin hadir untuk mengisi posisi gitar tambahan sekaligus menjadi produser, dan menangani sesi rekaman dan mixing keseluruhan album. Mereka masih mempercayakan Tore Stjerna yang telah bekerjasama sejak album debut untuk mengurusi sesi mastering album. Namun untuk konsep sampul album, mereka merombak total dengan mendatangkan seniman David Glomba. Mengenai album terbarunya mereka mengatakan: “Album ini berdiri sebagai bukti berani atas vitalitas abadi dan kebangkitan mulia band ini, menawarkan tujuh mantra yang mengaburkan kesenjangan antara yang sakral dan yang profan, keramat dan yang duniawi. Kutukan, setiap lagu berisi piala yang dipenuhi dengan kekuatan yang belum pernah terjadi sebelumnya. Ini bukan sekedar musik tetapi pengembaraan yang memukau ke alam mistik.”

Aurora – What Happened to the Heart?

Penyanyi, penulis lagu kelahiran Norwegia, Aurora melepas album studio ke-5 bertajuk “What Happened to the Heart?” melalui 3 label sekaligus, Decca, Glassnote, dan Petroleum. Mengenai penggarapan albumnya, Aurora dikabarkan mengerjakannya di 4 negara berbeda sekaligus, yakni di Norwegia, Jerman, Inggris, dan Amerika Serikat. Selain Aurora yang juga turut terlibat langsung dalam proses produksi, ia juga melibatkan sejumlah nama, diantaranya: Ane Brun, Matias Tellez, Tom Rowlands, Chris Greatti, Dave Hamelin dan Magnus Skylstad. Aurora menyatakan bahwa album terbarunya kali ini merupakan album paling personal dan katarsis yang pernah ia tulis, dia berkata: “Meskipun fungsi dan anatomi tidak dipahami secara tepat dan jelas, hati diyakini sebagai pusat jiwa. Intuisi, emosi, dan niat. Sampai kami memutuskan bahwa ini adalah kualifikasi pikiran. Emosi dikalahkan oleh logika. Lalu dengan dunia yang begitu dirusak oleh uang, kekuasaan, dan keegoisan, anda pasti bertanya pada diri sendiri – apa yang terjadi di hati anda?”

Ieschure – When the Darkness Comes

Proyek black metal tunggal besutan Lilita Arndt, Ieschure melepas album ke-2 berjudul “When the Darkness Comes” melalui label Those Opposed Records. Album tersebut sekaligus mengakhiri masa “hibernasinya” selama 7 tahun dalam merilis album penuh. Lilita dibantu Lykanthrop untuk mengisi posisi drum. Selain menggarap sesi penulisan lagu, Lilita mengerjakan sesi recording dan mastering yang turut dibantu oleh Dennis Israel yang sekaligus mengerjakan proses mixing. Album ini sendiri akan terdiri dari 2 bagian dengan 9 lagu baru yang terdaftar pada rangkaian keseluruhan album.

Terry Green – Provisional Living

Kuartet screamo asal Kanada, Terry Green melepas album studio ke-2 bertajuk “Provisional Living” melalui label Zegema Beach. “Provisional Living” berjarak 7 tahun dari debutnya, “LP” yang dilepas pada 2017 lalu.”Provisional Living direkam dan di mixing sejak November 2022 oleh Will Crann di Studio Catherine North yang terletak di Hamilton. Lalu untuk sesi mastering digarap oleh Will Killingsworth di Studio Dead Air. Album ini sendiri terdiri atas 9 lagu dengan durasi mencapai 30 menit 23 detik.
